Our mission is to work with the community to build sustainable support and enhance innovative educational opportunities for students, teachers and community members in partnership with Gardiner Public Schools.
We value our small, rural community and what it has to offer. Our school has always been the hub, even for neighbors without children. The multi-purpose room, gymnasium, and ball fields are used publicly as a community center, performance venue and for community sports.
Innovative programming has enhanced our reputation across the state as offering an especially well-rounded, world-class education. As our community has changed significantly with increasing visitation and vacation rentals, and a related declining enrollment, we seek to establish partnerships that will allow the school building, our amazing staff, electives and extracurriculars to continue functioning at an exceptional level, keeping our students and community engaged while sensibly dealing with present and forthcoming budget shortfalls.
Tax dollars support state minimums, but don’t always support the margin of excellence we’ve come to expect.
The North Yellowstone Education Foundation vision is to provide sustainable support for Gardiner Public Schools through fundraising, volunteerism, and community collaboration. We support Gardiner Public Schools as a community learning center, offering world-class educational opportunities while maintaining the values and uniqueness of our community.

Enveloped by Public Lands
Gardiner is surrounded by Yellowstone National Park and the Custer Gallatin National Forest. Our school community straddles the Montana-Wyoming border. We hail from Gardiner, Paradise Valley, Emigrant, and Pray, MT and Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park, WY.
Our location in the vast 19 million-acre Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem means we all support and recreate in public lands. While being "land-locked" provides a special set of challenges, we also rely on public lands for jobs. Over half our students' families work directly for the National Park or Forest, and many more indirectly provide visitors' services and infrastructure for managing such a large swath of public lands. By supporting NYEF, you directly support these vital public lands.
Though we see a huge influx of visitors throughout the year, we maintain a small town feel, and rely on community for our well-being. A well-rounded education is a high priority for the North Yellowstone community. As our community changes, NYEF seeks to enhance our school's gold star reputation and support the Gardiner Public School's mission of being a community learning center where students will: Acquire basic life skills built on an academic foundation, Become contributing citizens, Cultivate a life- long desire to learn, and Develop individual talents and abilities.
